At last, all have revolved back to the very start. To me, I’d rather consider this day as ‘My Personal New Year’s Day‘. What’s special is that this year’s birthday is in the weekend!!! However, it was a peaceful birthday which I celebrated within my family.
My family and I went to Wat Ladprao for a chant. Just a week after the flood dried up. There were still dark marks of water height clearly visible on the walls.
Then we were off to have some steaks for lunch at Sarm Yarn – just next to Chulalongkorn University’s fence. It was a good big meal. We went off for a sightseeing tour in the Bangkok’s old quarter for some good pictures before we arrive back home at around 16.00 Hrs.
I enjoyed myself a lot on a ‘peaceful’ birthday celebration. In fact, it was just as I wanted Big thanks to my father and mother for a good day to enjoy. Without them, my birthday would just be another day that has gone by. ^^+
The two MV Productions was done by a Serbian tourist who happened to be attracted to the beauty of Thai natural surroundings. In my opinion, I think this is ‘COMPLETELY COOOOOOL’ and I am not quite sure how I can define it with some other expressions on how he could come up with such idea trying to make this all up.
Seeing foreign tourists happy in my country is an immense pleasure in my heart. If you already watched the clips you will understand how cute those attempts were trying to sing Thai legendary songs about travelling that once were popular in the 1980s. If you are Thai, I’m sure you have smiled as you watched those clips and understood the happiness and pride in hosting their joy being around in our home country indeed.
Thanks to the Tourism Authority of Thailand for sharing this amazing clips to the world! The Greatest Thank of all goes to ‘Jovo‘ for creating such a marvelous effort.
Bangkok, the capital city of Thailand. With the population of more than 12 Million people, making it the largest city of Thailand. Its history dates back to 1782 when King Rama I moved the capital city over from Thonburi, just the opposite bank of the Chao Phraya River.
A couple of days ago, I found this clip on YouTube. It is a compilation of photos taken in Bangkok ranging from the 1940s to about 1960s together with an old Thai song called ‘Krung Thep Ratri’ (กรุงเทพราตรี) meaning ‘Bangkok by Night’. The lyric expresses the beauty of the city and the vibrant lifestyle the people have at the time the song was written.
The song may be deemed tedious to some, but for me it sparked my idea in travelling to those places again. I’ve just been there today and took some photos too. I just hope I could spend more time there and taken more pictures than I had today Anyway, here are just a few of them – enjoy !!!
There is this one song just happen to sweep across my mind as the cold wind approaches.
The Bangles – Hazy Shade of Winter
Time, time, time
See what’s become of me
Time, time, time
See what’s become of me
While I looked around
For my possibilities
I was so hard to please
Look around
Leaves are brown
And the sky
Is a hazy shade of winter
Hear the salvation army band
Down by the riverside
It’s bound to be a better ride
Than what you’ve got planned
Carry a cup in your hand
Look around
Leaves are brown
And the sky
Is a hazy shade of winter
Hang on to your hopes my friend
That’s an easy thing to say
But if your hopes should pass away
Simply pretend
That you can build them again
Look around
Grass is high
Fields are ripe
It’s the springtime of my life
Seasons change with the scenery
Weaving time in a tapestry
Won’t you stop and remember me
Look around
Leaves are brown
And the sky
It’s a hazy shade of winter
Look around
Leaves are brown
There’s a patch of snow on the ground

I remember hearing version a very long time back when I was a little boy. But I’ve just found out that the version was a cover recorded in 1987 for a film called ‘Less Than Zero’. The song was originally written by Simon Gafungel in 1966. In their honour of such genius in songwriting, I also put up their version
To me, both version give a different feeling. By just reading the lyrics it seems as though the author is going through a period of depression. Looking around seeing brown leaves and patches of snow on the grown can mean a sign of cold and darkness that lies ahead whlist going through a dilema, the author seems to get lost, not knowing what to do next.
However, he/she still has the hope of going forward and face the uncertainty with hope to bring back the great time being had in the past because he/she realises that the past was a beautiful experience that has been neglected.
Whatever it may mean, we all can live the life that each and everyone of us could. You can do it too
The EM Ball Molding session originally started on Saturday the 5th of November 2011. By the time I found it was almost too late! It was set to end on the 8th but I sent some queries on facebook of Ethic Seminar and they agreed to extend the project. I was opted in!
The molding session I went was on the 8, 9, and 10th November 2011 at Dr. Choop Plaza, next to the E Building at Huamark Campus. The session was livelier than I first imagined. Starting from around 9 in the morning, I watched the demonstration at D building and proceed to the operation area at E building.
I was in the mixing department. In each plastic basin, there were fine rice bran and coarse bran and fine sand given ratio 2:1:1 respectively. My job was to mix them all well. Followed by 5 cups of EM liquid diluted to 1:200. Mix everything together. At the end, the material must be tested by molding a ball out of those material and drop it from the knee length. The ball must not crack in order to be qualified.
Besides from the knowledge I gained from this service learning project, I have made a few friends from the activity as well. Some were seniors, alumni, students from faculties at Huamark campus. It was such a good time we all had indeed.
